Christopher J. Kestner, MD
South Carolina Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center
I am honored and thankful for the opportunity to help this great cause as an honorary chair. I was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. I completed my undergraduate work at Middlebury College in VT where I majored in Spanish and played third base for the Varsity baseball team.
During college I spent some time at a local hospital where I developed a new interest in the medical field and in surgery, specifically. I spent the next four years at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. There I developed a strong interest in the field of orthopedic surgery. I followed this interest with a residency in orthopedics at Temple University, also in Philadelphia. Outstanding experiences there drew me to the subspecialty field of Foot and Ankle.
I followed this interest in Foot and Ankle and completed a fellowship program at Duke University in Durham, NC. This year of training helped me learn skills in cutting-edge technology and procedures including total ankle arthoplasty, and the management of injuries in elite athletes. I joined South Carolina Sports Medicine in 2012 and have enjoyed treating a variety of orthopedic issues including joint preservation and reconstruction due to arthritis. I have continued my love of sports by helping to care for the athletes of the Stingrays professional ice hockey team and the Riverdogs minor league baseball team.
I look forward to giving all I can back to the community; I am excited to bring my passion for treating the complications associated with arthritis to the D’Vine Affair!
